Wedding Wear 2018

Events are hard. Wedding are harder. And when you throw in the ever present dilemma of “I have nothing to wear” then they become almost impossible to deal with. If you’ve ever been invited to a wedding and didn’t know what to wear, then this post is for you.

I recently was in invited to a friend’s wedding and because I’m me, I went through the ups and downs of deciding what to wear to this event. Should I rent? Should I buy? Should I wear something in my closet?

Ultimately I went with a beautiful pink ensemble that I had in my closet from New York & Company. You can check it out on my Instagram. But I have some recommendations for those of you who may not be able to find something in your own closet. So…keep reading.

If you’re unfamiliar with Rent The Runway, this is a website that allows you to rent designer clothing and accessories for all sorts of events. I have a code that you all can use so feel free to use it for any weddings or special occasions that you have coming up. Here are some of my favorite wedding picks from Rent The Runway!

Left to Right:

Badgley Mischka dress retailing for $595 and renting for $90; Carmen Marc Valvc dress retailing for $425 and renting for $70; State & Willow dress retailing for $158 and renting for $35.

If you’re not into renting or if you just want to build up your wardrobe, I’ve included some outfits from Lulu’s and Missguided as these are my ABSOLUTE favorite shops for special events. I got my 20’s inspired gown for last year’s medical school ball from Missguided.

MISSGUIDED

Left to Right:

Burgundy Short Sleeve Lace Midi Skater Dress retailing for $85; Red Cut Out Midi Dress retailing for $26; Gray Bardot Foldover Wrap Dress retailing for $48.

LULU’s

Left to Right:

Essence of Style Red Maxi Dress retailing for $100; Depths of My Love Dusty Blue Maxi Dress retailing for $80; Be My Baby Purple Bodycon Midi Dress retailing for $54.

Both of the shops above have amazing quality products with even better customer service. Before ordering (from Missguided especially), I would get your mesaurements down. So grab a friend and some measuring tape to make sure that you order the right size and look your best.

Remember to keep venue, time of year, and time of day in mind when looking for your wedding dress/outfit. You can literally shop anywhere and find pieces that are perfect for any wedding. I have included, however, some of my simple rules for shopping or renting…

  1. DO NOT WEAR WHITE (that shouldn’t even have to be said).
  2. Don’t wear black…it’s a wedding, not a funeral.
  3. Try and fit the theme (This can be hard one but you can look at the invitation to get the vibe of the couple or occasion. And if all else fails, you can even google the event space…I do that all the time).
  4. Have fun because #OOTDs are never THAT serious!

Thanks so much for reading lovelies. Tag me in any and all of your wedding pics this season. Seriously. XX! I’ll see you really soon.
